On June 24,2023, the Károli Gáspár Centre for Protestant Studies held its first international Károli Forum styled as ‘Gutenberg and Protestantism’. The event was opened by the Pro Musica Chamber Choir from Subotica, conducted by maestro Krisztina Csikós, followed by the welcome address of Izabella Szűcs Kószó, the president of the Károli Gáspár Centre. Guests of honour at the first international Károli Forum were Mr. Zoltán Turay, of the Bródy Sándor County and City Library in Eger, and Mr. Tamás Miszler, the head of the Csorba Győző Library in Pécs.
The Károli Fórum included two presentations. Initially, Dr Gábor Mondovics, historian from Hungary, gave an online lecture entitled ‘Balkan Bearings on One Nation’s Narrative’. The second presentation on comparative analysis between law and theology was given by Dr Damir Sütő (Serbia). The papers presented within the first Károli Forum are collected in separate Conference Proceedings, published by the Károli Gáspár Protestant Research Centre. The publication is available in both print and online versions.
The first international Károli Forum was followed by a brief official presentation of the Károli Library, introduced by the welcome address of one of the organizers, Mr. Csaba Szűcs. During the opening ceremony, the winners of an alongside Photo Contest were nominated. The first prize was won by Enikő Vályi-Horváth from Debrecen for her photography „A középpont” (The Midst). Lidia Veréb and Glória Lukácsevity, both from Subotica, won the second and the third place in the competition.
