Event Announcement: Károli Forum 2024

The Centre for Protestant Studies Gáspár Károli organises its Second International Károli Forum on June 8, 2024 (Saturday). The overall theme of this year’s symposium is ‘The Protestant Worldview – Changes and Challenges’. The conference starts at 10am, at the Centre’s headquarters.

Apart participants among Centre’s research fellows (Dr Dorottya Urbán, Dr Damir Sütő, Izabella Szűcs Kószó and Csaba Szűcs) the 2024 Forum hosts Dr Lluís Català Oltra and Dr Daniel La Parra Casado from the University of Alicante (Spain), as well as Dávid Fic and Richárd Morvai Rácz from the University of Novi Sad.

During the opening ceremony, alongside the welcome address speeches, the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy in performances of Subotica Pro Musica Chamber Choir, as well as Fény duo strings chamber duet consisting of Petra Dobó (violin) and Nikolett Dobó (cello).

The 2024 Károli Forum presents researches dealing with issues related to the impact of Protestantism on healthcare and education, the youth of Protestant churches in Vojvodina, the factors of Roma heteroidentity in the social inclusion policies of the EU countries, the settlement of Protestants in present-day Bačka during the reign of Maria Theresia and Joseph II, as well as the 1568 religious tolerance Edict of Turda.

The organisers cordially invite the academic community and all those interested to take part in this year’s Károli Forum. Following the researchers’ presentations, the audience will have the opportunity to take part in an open discussion session (Q&A) on issues raised within the Forum.

Likewise, during the symposium the organisers will present this year’s Károli Forum conference proceedings.

The event is supported by the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina Provincial Secretariat for Education, Regulations, Administration and National Minorities – National Communities.
