At its meeting on May 25, 2025, the General Assembly of the Gáspár Károli Centre for Protestant Studies in Subotica adopted a resolution dedicated to the research and preservation of Protestant heritage in Vojvodina.
As a region known for its multicultural, multiethnic, multiconfessional, and multilingual character, Vojvodina is home to numerous religious traditions. Among them, Protestant heritage holds a significant place in shaping the region’s social and cultural diversity. The newly adopted resolution reaffirms the Centre’s commitment to promoting a deeper understanding and safeguarding of this heritage.
According to the new guidelines, the Centre will place special emphasis on the academic exploration and public presentation of Vojvodina’s Protestant legacy. Its objective is to underscore the historical and cultural importance of Protestantism as a key contributor to peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among the region’s various communities.
The Centre’s Program Council, along with its organizational units, will implement this mission through scholarly research, conferences, publications, and collaborative projects with both domestic and international partners. A guiding principle of this initiative is to ensure that the study of Protestant heritage is conducted with equal respect and attention to all social, ethnic, and religious communities that make up Vojvodina’s diverse society.
